FOLLOW MANCHESTER ORIGINALS IN THE HUNDRED THIS SUMMER

While Old Trafford is known for its high-quality and entertaining cricket, it will still be worth a visit. But, 2020 brings a new competition. Despite its complex format, The Hundred has its critics. However, casual cricket fans will likely be attracted by the presence of big-name players from around the globe.

It is never a bad thing to bring in extra revenue and there are teams all over the region.

Original and Best?

Manchester Originals chose to support local talent, unlike other franchises. Jos Buttler, Lancashire’s own player, will sign the marquee. He will be joined by Matt Parkinson and Saqib Mahamood, who are both teammates and ‘local icons.

The Originals completed their team in October with some highly-profile cricketers, following a showbiz-style selection process. The Australian Dan Christian won several global T20 competitions including the Vitality Blast, which was held with Notts Outlaws. Imran Tahir, a mystery spinner, is undoubtedly the most dangerous in the limited-overs format.

Lancashire fans will recognize the experienced Dane Vilas, who adds South African flavor to the team. Compatriots Wayne Madsen and Wayne Parnell, Marchant de Lange, have also signed up for the summer stint.

Mitchell Santner, a New Zealand all-rounder, will add orthodox spin to the batting. Manchester also has Phil Salt, Joe Clarke and Tom Abell as their young English batsmen.

This lineup can make history and win The Hundred’s inaugural edition in 2020.

What are your chances?

The Originals team is impressive, but pundits aren’t so sure. Take a look at current cricket betting markets for The Hundred. Manchester Originals are priced at 8/1 with Bet365. This makes them outsiders alongside the London Spirit.

Southern Brave, a Hampshire-based betting team, is the most prominent. It’s not surprising considering that they have the ability to field David Warner, Chris Jordan and James Vince, as well as England’s World Cup hero Jofra archer.

Despite being behind Manchester, the Oval Invincibles (Trent Rockets), Welsh Fire, Northern Superchargers, Birmingham Phoenix, and the Oval Invincibles are all ahead of Manchester. Originals fans should not be discouraged. This is a brand new competition, with a different format. No one really knows what to expect.

Where to See

Manchester Originals has released their full fixture list and The Hundred campaign kicks off with a bang. This is a Roses Match as the side hosts Northern Superchargers from Leeds at Old Trafford on Jul 18.

Each team will face off in the Group Stages, and there are three home fixtures. Manchester will host Trent Rockets, London Spirit on July 31, and Welsh Fire August 13. Tickets can be purchased via the main Lancashire County Cricket Club site.
